PE CLASS SYLLABUS
Southwest Middle School PE Absent Policy, Rules and Procedures
1. Dress Code: Must wear gym shorts or sweatpants, t-shirt or long
sleeved shirt, and TENNIS shoes. NO spandex shorts. Preferable gym clothing colors:
Southwest Middle School or Stevens High school colors: White, Gray, Silver,
Black, Purple, and Blue. Any other colors will be acceptable.
2. Role: Attendance will be taken 4 minutes after the final/late
bell rings.
3. Absences: Each student is allowed 2 absences per semester.
After 2 absences, the student will be required to make up participation points.
- Absences
that are a result of a Southwest activity WILL NOT count against you (athletic
events, music concerts, field trips, knowledge bowl, etc.)
Ways to
make-up absences:
1. You may come in the morning
and participate in Iron Hawk
2. Absent makeup work can be found on the PE website.
- 1 worksheet per day you are absent
3. Write a 1 paragraph journal that deals with your physical activity that was done while you were absent. Paragraph should be at least 5 sentences long.
- IF YOU HAVE ISS OR OSS, YOU MUST GO ONLINE TO THE PE WEBSITE AND COMPLETE WORKSHEETS FOR EVERY DAY YOU MISS CLASS! IT IS YOUR
RESPONSIBILITY!!
Locks and Lockers:
ALL PE students
are required to bring a COMBINATION LOCK that will be used for the PE lockers.
You are not allowed to SHARE a locker with anyone. You MUST lock your lockers
at all times! It is your responsibility to keep up with your belongings!
Locker room and class procedures:
1. You have 4 minutes after bell
rings to get into locker room, dressed, and in the gym participating in the
warm up activity. This is also the only time to use the bathroom and get water.
2. All backpacks, lunchboxes, and personal items
are to be stored inside the locker room on top of or in front of the lockers
3. DO NOT crowd around the door waiting for
the bell to ring to leave class. You must be standing behind the specified
line.
RESPECT:
Every student is
expected to treat the gym and workout rooms, equipment, peers, and teachers
with respect. Inappropriate behavior to peers and teachers will NOT be
tolerated.
General Rules:
NO gum, candy, or food allowed in the gym/during class
Must get permission to return to the locker room during
class
Leave all equipment alone until the teacher gives
instruction to use it
NO snapping towels in the locker room…consequence is ISS!!
Grading:
You will receive
a total of 30 points a day: (150 points per week
5 points =
DRESSED APPROPRIATELY
5 points =
SITTING IN SPOT ON TIME
5 points =
ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING IN THE WARM UP
5 points= ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING IN THE PE ACTIVITY
5 points= ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING IN THE PE ACTIVITY
10 points =
RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR
Possible Point Deductions:
5 points for all tardies
5 points for not being dressed appropriately (wrong shoes,
etc.)
5 points for NO DRESS (points CANNOT be made up)
5 points for disruptive behavior, inappropriate behavior
Up to 10 points can be deducted for lack of participation and effort during lesson
Up to 10 points can be deducted for disrespectful behavior
Up to 10 points can be deducted for disrespectful behavior
20 points for being written up
Injury/illness:
Students are required to have a signed doctor's
note in order to sit out due to illness/injury. Students will be
allowed 1 day with a parent note; days following need a
doctor's note.
